In an effort to further enhance productivity among workers, the Yobe State government has pledged continued support for civil servants in addition to training and retraining for efficiency in service delivery.
Governor Mai Mala Buni made this known during 2024 workers’ day celebrations in Damaturu the Yobe State capital.

Buni, represented by the Acting Head of the Civil Service Hamidu M. Alhaji said the support to workers became necessary taking into consideration the role they play in the implementation of government’s people-oriented policies and programmes.

The governor who equally commended the cordial relationship existing between the government and the labour as well as trade unions in the state equally urged for more concerted efforts towards Strengthening it for more progress.

“As partners in progress, I believe the members of the organized Labour Unions in our dear State are aware of the commitment of the present administration to reform the conduct of Government business towards inducing sustainable socio-economic development.

“The State is collectively ours and I believe, we have a common responsibility to lift it to greater heights and bequeath a fertile ground for the progress of our people to the upcoming and future generations. This cannot be achieved without making sacrifices.”

Buni equally restated the commitments of his administration towards formulating more policies and programmes that will further help in lifting the living standards of the people across the state.

“Our pursuits however, do not imply that we would not continue to pay attention to the welfare of workers. Within the limit of our scarce resources, we would continue to provide the necessary incentives including training and retraining and various welfare packages to increase higher commitment and productivity among workers.

“Let me at this point express our appreciation to the Nigeria Labour Congress and other unions for being grateful to the efforts being made by the present administration in the State especially in the area of effective service delivery geared towards improving the general wellbeing of the people of the State.

“There is no doubt that the appreciation expressed about us and our administration by the Chairman of the NLC on behalf of all members and affiliates of the organisation will continue to inspire us in the drive at providing more social services for the progress of the people,” the governor assured.
