Jude Bellingham was the hero once again as England’s Three Lions clawed their way back from a goal down to defeat Norway 2-1 in a thrilling World Cup Quarter-Final clash, securing their spot in the semi-finals.
Norway stunned England in the 36th minute when A. Schjelderup, assisted by Martin Ødegaard, fired them into a 1-0 lead. However, England responded just before halftime, with Jude Bellingham netting his first of the night in the 45+2 minute, assisted by A. Gordon, to level the score at 1-1.
The second half saw a tense battle, with both teams pushing for a winner. A VAR check in the 55th minute denied T. L. Heggem a potential goal for Norway, keeping the scoreline at 1-1. With the full-time whistle blowing and no further goals, the match headed into extra time.
It was in the 93rd minute that Bellingham rose to the occasion once more, scoring his second goal of the match to put England ahead 2-1. Despite a late yellow card for K. Ajer in the 117th minute, Norway couldn’t find an equalizer. England held on to their lead, and the final whistle confirmed their hard-fought victory and a place in the World Cup semi-finals.
