Gombe State governor Inuwa Yahaya has commended the peaceful conduct of the ongoing local government elections, expressing satisfaction with the orderly and smooth electoral process across the state.

The governor spoke on Saturday shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit located within Government Science Secondary School, Gombe.

Yahaya praised residents for turning out in large numbers to participate in the polls, describing the turnout as a clear demonstration of their commitment to democratic governance and grassroots development.

He also lauded security agencies, election officials and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free exercise throughout the state.

The governor urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the electoral process, stressing that peace and stability remain critical to Gombe State’s continued development.

He further called on political parties and their supporters to accept the outcome of the election in good faith and pursue any grievances through lawful and established channels.

Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening democratic governance and pledged continued support for elected local government officials to enable them deliver meaningful development at the grassroots.

The Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC) is conducting the election to fill the positions of chairmen and councillors across the state’s 11 local government areas and 13 development areas.
