Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashua in Yobe State, has announced that academic activities would resume today (Monday, August 15).
This is contained in a statement signed and issued by the registrar of the college, Usman Lamido, which was made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu, yesterday.
The decision to resume was taken at a meeting with staff union of the college on Wednesday, 10th August, 2022, where the impact of the strike by the union was discussed.
He said the management was concerned about the pains experienced by students and parents.
According to the statement, “Sequel to the suspension of the National Strike action by the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) on Wednesday, 10th August, 2022.
“Moreover, I hereby write to inform all staff and students that the College Management has approved the re-opening of the College for the continuation of all academic activities with immediate effect,” he emphasised.
“In view of the above, all students are to resume on Monday, 15 August, 2022 and lectures will commence immediately.” The statement said the directive must be strictly adhered to, adding that the school management decided to reopen in the interest of students, parents, guardians, society and its survival.
