Yobe Gets Committee On N35,000 Wage

Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has constituted a high-powered committee for the payment of N35,000 wage award to civil servants as palliatives in order to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The committee is tasked with determining the financial implication of the implementation of the N35,000 wage award to the civil servants in the state.

In a statement issued by the Acting Head of Service, Hamidu Alhaji, the committee is tasked with determining the financial implication of the implementation of the wage award to the civil servants including to negotiate with labour unions on the acceptable rate both to government and the organised labour.

He stated that the committee is also expected to make appropriate recommendations to the government on what to be paid to workers in the state.

The committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, has five members including Head of Service, Commissioner for Finance, state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), state chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), while the Permanent Secretary (Establishment) is to serve as secretary.
