Yobe Govt Approves N300m For Feeding Students During Extension Programme

The Yobe State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has distributed cash and food items worth N300 million to Principals of Senior Secondary Schools for feeding students under the schools extension programme across the state.

A statement issued by the Information Officer of the ministry, Ibrahim Adamu Saleh said the commissioner, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss distributed the items during a brief ceremony at the Government Girls Unity College Damaturu.

Addressing the principals speaking shortly before handing over the cash and the foodstuff, Idriss said the gesture was part of governor Buni’s commitment to boosting education in the state.
Dr. Sani Idriss who enumerated a series of achievements recorded in the education sector under the present Administration, also said the idea behind feeding the Students during extension classes was to create and give them a favourable environment for learning.

“His Excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni the Executive Governor of Yobe State considers the provision of quality education as a task that the government must accomplish.
“He instructed that we must do everything possible towards ensuring that our students get the required result needed for entry into various institutions of learning after the completion of secondary schools.

“This extension, attracted the sum of over N300 million from the Yobe State government under the able leadership of His Excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni to make education better.
“The foodstuff provided therefore was to make all of our SSS3 students stay at schools for the period being to prepare them for the forthcoming WAEC and NECO examinations for better results.

“This was as a result of Governor Buni’s commitments for ensuring that our students graduated with flying colours in all of the national and West African examinations,” Idriss said.

The commissioner called on the principals and all other Stakeholders to reciprocate the government gesture by ensuring that the students obtained the highest scores in the upcoming exams.
Principals, who spoke after receiving the cash and the food items, thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gesture pointing out that this will go a long way in promoting the standard of education across the State.

They were assured to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring that the students obtained the required results.
Items distributed include rice, beans, maize, millet, biski, maggi, milk powder, palm oil, vegetable oil, Sugar, flour among others.
