Yobe State head of service (HoS), Abdullahi Musa Shehu, has lauded ongoing reforms in the state’s education sector, attributing recent gains to sustained investments in capacity building under Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Shehu made the commendation at the end of a three-week intensive training for the third batch of teachers, principals and education administrators from Yobe State held at the National Teachers Institute headquarters in Kaduna.
According to him, the programme was designed to strengthen leadership, improve teaching practices and enhance school management.
Represented by the focal person on Training and Succession Planning, Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf, the HoS described the initiative as a practical response to longstanding challenges in the sector.
Shehu noted that the government’s approach aligns with the state of emergency declared in education, aimed at accelerating reforms and improving learning outcomes across the state.
He emphasised that continuous training remains critical to building a responsive, results-oriented education system, urging participants to make good use of the knowledge gained in their respective schools and institutions to ensure wider impact.
In a remark, the Executive Director of the National Teachers Institute, Sadiya Sani Daura, commended the Yobe State Government for prioritising human capital development, noting that such investments are essential to strengthening educational delivery.
Represented by Special Technical Assistant, Bature Salisu, Sadiya Sani expressed confidence that the participants would translate the skills acquired into improved classroom instruction, effective leadership and better school administration across Yobe State.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Abatcha Modu Jumbam reaffirmed their commitment towards applying the knowledge gained, describing the programme as impactful and timely.
He also called for the sustenance of training and retraining initiatives, stressing that capacity building remains key to efficient service delivery and long-term sectoral transformation.
