Secretary to the Yobe State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, has declared that the state has transformed into one of the most peaceful in the country after years of devastation caused by Boko Haram insurgency.
Wali stated this when he addressed journalists in his office in Damaturu, the state capital.
He said the improved security situation had eliminated major crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery, thereby providing a safe and conducive environment for residents and visitors to carry out their daily activities without fear.
To him, people can now travel freely to all parts of the state without the risk of being robbed or kidnapped, a development he described as a significant milestone in Yobe’s recovery journey.
Wali noted that although a few communities located along the boundary with the Sambisa Forest are still facing security challenges, concerted security efforts are ongoing to liberate those areas from remnants of insurgents.
He added that all communities and local government areas previously occupied by Boko Haram have been successfully liberated, with normalcy fully restored across the state.
Wali commended the Federal Government and security agencies for their commitment, sacrifice, and collaboration, which he said were instrumental in restoring peace and stability to Yobe State.
He reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to continue working with security forces to ensure lasting peace and development.
