Yobe State University (YSU) has recorded a major academic milestone, producing a total of 106 first-class graduates between 2019 and 2025, the vice chancellor, Prof. Bashir Tahir, has said.

Speaking on the university’s academic achievements, Tahir hinted that the graduates cut across science-based and management-related disciplines, reflecting the institution’s growing strength in diverse fields of study.

According to him, the feat underscored YSU’s steady rise as a centre of academic excellence despite operating in a challenging environment.

“These first-class graduates are a clear indication of the quality of teaching, learning, and research taking place at Yobe State University,” the vice chancellor said.

He added, “They represent our commitment to academic rigor and merit.”

Prof. Tahir noted that the university has continued to play a strategic role in developing competent human capital, not only for Yobe State but for Nigeria as a whole.

He stressed that the institution remains focused on producing graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills required to drive socio-economic development.

He attributed the success to the dedication of academic staff, improved learning facilities, and sustained investment in education by the state government.

With the growing number of high-performing graduates, Prof. Tahir reaffirmed the university’s resolve to strengthen academic standards and expand programmes that respond to national and global needs.
