The Nigerian film industry is mourning the loss of veteran Yoruba actor Fesogboye Oyewole. News of his death emerged online after fellow actor Mr Latin shared the announcement on Facebook.

The family said he passed away on Friday, 29 May 2026. They did not disclose the cause of death but thanked Allah for his life and prayed for his eternal rest.

In the statement, they remembered him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, deeply loved by his family.

The statement read: “With complete submission to the will of Allah (SWT), we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle, Comrade Baniyamin Fesogboye Oyewole, who returned to his Creator on Friday, 29th May, 2026. We thank Allah for the life He granted him and pray that He forgives his shortcomings, expands his grave, illuminates it with His mercy, and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”

Shortly afterwards, the actor’s family released a statement confirming his death.

The family said he would be laid to rest at his residence in Oke Orogbo, Lalupon, Ibadan, Oyo State. His passing has deepened the mood of mourning in Nollywood. It comes a day after reports confirmed the death of actor Patrick Okoye.
