Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has condemned the renewed bandits’ attacks in the southwest region, describing it as disturbing.

The association’s national president, Olalekan Hammed and national secretary, Olawale Ajao, alleged that lack of adequate or well-trained personnel, intelligence gathering and sophisticated weapons have been hindering the southwest security outfit, Amotekun, from carrying out its duties.

The youth group said these had affected the security outfit from effectively achieving its goals of putting an end to the menace of insecurity, as well as ensuring the protection of lives and properties in the region.

“There is a need for Southwest governors to recruit more Amotekun cadets, train and retrain them and equip them with modern equipment for them to perform as expected.

“If not, the aims at which it was established may not be achieved.

“Moreover, larger percentage of the officers should be redeployed to rural areas (villages) and farms that have recorded incessant attacks by herdsmen and bandits because the rate at which people are being killed, maimed and kidnapped is perturbing,” they said.
