The Zamfara State Clchairman of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), Hon. Kabiru Garba Gusau, has warned Bilyaminu Shinkafi, to stop parading himself as the party’s governorship candidate or face legal action.
Gusau issued the warning on Friday during a press conference at the ADC state secretariat in Gusau.
The state chairman said Shinkafi is not a registered member of the ADC and that the party will not tolerate impersonation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Hon. Shinkafi is not a card-carrying member of ADC,” Gusau said.
“Anyone parading himself as governorship candidate beside Hon. Ibrahim Salisu Mafara will be taken to court.”
He stated that Hon. Ibrahim Salisu Mafara remains the legitimate and recognised gubernatorial candidate of the ADC in Zamfara State.
Gusau added that the ADC in Zamfara is alive, organised and mobilised for 2027 despite internal disputes.
He disclosed that the case on the leadership of the party in the state is already before a court of law, and that his leadership is respecting the rule of law.
“Hon. Mafara remains the legitimate and recognised gubernatorial candidate of the ADC in Zamfara State, in line with the party’s constitution and court pronouncements,” he said.
The chairman urged party members and the public to disregard what he described as “deliberate misinformation aimed at causing confusion within the ADC.”
The development comes as political parties in the North-west begin underground mobilisation ahead of 2027, with issues of candidacy and party structure already generating friction in Zamfara.
As of press time, Shinkafi had yet to react to the chairman’s position.
