The Zamfara State government has revitalised the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to enhance service delivery to women, children, vulnerable persons and other marginalised groups across the state.

The permanent secretary of the ministry, Garba Aliyu Gayari, disclosed this yesterday during an interview with newsmen.

He said the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal has brought significant improvements across all sectors of the state, including the transformation of the ministry.

According to him, before the current administration came into power, the ministry was in a dilapidated condition, noting that it has now been upgraded to a standard that supports effective operations and improved service delivery.

Gayari further stated that the government has demonstrated strong commitment to the welfare of orphans in orphanage homes, as well as children in approved schools in Bungudu and those in remand homes.

He said interventions cover education, healthcare, shelter, skills acquisition and provision of other social amenities.

The permanent secretary added that the ministry, under the leadership of Dr Aisha Anka, has re-strategised its operations to collaborate with independent donor agencies.

This, he explained, aligns with the administration’s Rescue Agenda aimed at lifting thousands of women out of poverty through skills acquisition programmes.

He said the state government has shown the readiness to partner with both local and international donors, including offering counterpart funding, to support development initiatives.

Gayari called on residents to support government programmes and emphasized the importance of collective efforts, including prayers, toward restoring peace and stability in the state and the country.
