The Zamfara Zakat and Endowment Board in Zamfara State has distributed various assistance to 964 orphans and the less privileged across the state.
This was disclosed by the executive secretary of the board, Habibu Balarabe Zawiyya during the weekly distribution of assistance to the beneficiaries held at the board’s headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara state capital.
According to him, the gesture was part of the effort of Governor Dauda Lawal to reduce the hardship among the vulnerable orphans and less privileged persons in the state.
The executive secretary who was represented by the deputy director of zakat distribution, Malan Sani Abubakar noted that the beneficiaries included, health, medicine, education, marriages businesses, rent and credit among others.
Zawiyya stated that the board had been organising the weekly assistance distribution programme purposely in order to improve the welfare of orphans and the less privileged.
He also advised the beneficiaries of the gesture to use it judiciously not to misappropriate it.
Earlier, the chairman of the board, Sheikh Ahmad Umar Ibn Kanoma also called on people, especially wealthy individuals and philanthropists to cooperate with the zakat board by giving out their Zakat and endowment in order to distribute it to the needy in the state.
Kanoma also described that giving out Zakat and Endowment to orphans and less privileged is obligatory upon wealthy individuals and philanthropists because Allah SWT mentioned in holy Qur’anic and promised to redouble reward for those who assist orphans and also build beautiful houses in Aljanna fiddausi.
In his vote of thanks during the programme, the director of distribution, Malam Dalhatu Umar Jauri, thanked the state government for propagating Islamic religious knowledge through Zakat and Endowment Board.
He called on the beneficiaries to continue to pray against insecurity for peace to be restored in the state.
