MFM Women Basketball Club will put their unbeaten record on the line when they face record champions First Bank in the final game of Phase One of the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League Atlantic Conference on Saturday.
The highly anticipated encounter will take place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with both sides looking to finish the opening phase on a high.
MFM have been in dominant form throughout the conference, winning all their matches so far. Their latest emphatic victory came on Friday when they thrashed IGP Queens 82-22 to maintain their perfect record.
First Bank, meanwhile, will enter the contest with renewed confidence after recording an 87-39 victory over defending champions Dolphins on Friday. The defeat was Dolphins’ fourth loss in six matches, leaving their hopes of progressing to the second phase in September hanging by a thread.
Elsewhere on Friday, Victoria Queens continued their impressive campaign with a narrow 50-46 victory over Royal Aces, while Bayelsa Blue Whales defeated First Deep Water 59-37.
Saturday’s other Atlantic Conference fixtures will see IGP Queens take on Bayelsa Blue Whales, First Deep Water face Victoria Queens, while Dolphins will look to end Phase One with a win against Royal Aces.
In the Savannah Conference, Titans defeated Nasarawa Amazons 112-89, while Aso Queens stunned Air Warriors 42-33. Customs also recorded a convincing 75-43 victory over Plateau Rocks in Jos.
