Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe as Acting Chief of Staff to the governor.

Until his elevation, Mallumbe served as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS I) in the governor’s office.

The appointment is part of a broader administrative restructuring aimed at strengthening governance and accelerating implementation of the state’s development agenda, including the 25-year Development Plan and 10-year Strategic Transformation Initiatives.

In a statement issued on Monday in Maiduguri by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, the government also announced the allocation of portfolios to 10 newly sworn-in commissioners.

According to the statement, Barr. Hauwa Abubakar has been assigned as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, while Hon. Bukar Mustapha Dalatu becomes Commissioner for Budget and Planning. Hon. Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe was named Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

Others include Hon. Umar Lawan Dalorima as Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Prof. Baba Mallam Gana as Commissioner for Health and Human Services, and Prof. Usman A. Tar as Commissioner for Information and Internal Security.
