The Kano State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the disturbing incident involving the beheading of a six-year-old boy, Mohammed Saidu, allegedly carried out by a 16-year-old Abdullahi in Kanwa village of Madobi local government area of Kano State.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) revealed that the suspect, Abdullahi, a native of Zamfara State, was apprehended in Kanwa village by a concerned citizen while in possession of a blood-stained knife allegedly used for the crime.
Upon searching the area, the headless body of young Saidu was discovered within the vicinity of a nearby primary school.
CP Gumel revealed that when Policemen arrived, the suspect confessed to the crime, disclosing that he disposed off the victim’s head in a pit toilet adjacent to the primary school.
An angry mob consequently descended on the suspect to lynch him. Abdullahi was rescued and rushed to Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital for medical attention, but he passed away while undergoing treatment.
