Organizers of the annual National Anti-Corruption Marathon Race have announced the cancellation of this year’s edition, originally scheduled for December 21, 2024 in Abuja.

The national coordinator of the race, Mr Jacob Onu, announced the final cancellation, saying they are now looking forward to the 2025 edition in conjunction with their partners.

“The general public is hereby notified that the 2024 National Anti-Corruption Marathon Race scheduled for December 21st will no longer hold. We, the Main Organising Committee, MOC, in conjunction with our partners look forward to the 2025 edition.

“For every inconvenience, kindly bear with us,” Onu said in the press statement made available to LEADERSHIP sports yesterday in Abuja.

No fewer than 3,000 athletes have signified their intention to participate in this year’s marathon with One million naira as the star prize for both male and female categories while the runners-up will get N700,000 and N500,000 respectively.

The National Anti-Corruption Marathon is one of the road race events in Nigeria whose course has been certified and accredited by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
