Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
According to the statement, the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, was also appointed as the Deputy Amirul Hajj for the pilgrimage exercise.
The state government said the appointments were part of efforts to ensure effective coordination and smooth conduct of the 2026 pilgrimage operations for intending pilgrims from Kano State.
The statement further directed the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board to provide the Amirul Hajj and his deputy with the necessary support and cooperation required for the successful discharge of their responsibilities.
It added that the administration expressed confidence in the leadership capacities and experience of the two traditional rulers to oversee the exercise effectively.
The government also prayed for a successful Hajj operation, urging all officials involved in the exercise to work diligently towards ensuring the welfare and comfort of pilgrims.
The statement further wished Kano pilgrims a hitch-free spiritual journey and prayed for their safe return after performing an accepted Hajj.
