The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State for the 2027 elections, Isa Ashiru, has said the party would tackle deep-seated poverty, widespread hunger, insecurity, and restore public confidence in the state’s democratic institutions if elected.

Ashiru expressed gratitude to party members for their support during the just-concluded primaries, describing the process as peaceful and credible.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ADC governorship candidate called for unity among party stakeholders, urging members to put aside differences and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He commended the leadership of the ADC for allowing what he described as a transparent democratic process during the primaries conducted across 255 electoral wards in Kaduna State.

Ashiru said the rancour-free exercise reflected the party’s readiness not only to deliver good governance but also to strengthen democratic practice in the state.

According to him, “It is natural in any contest, such as the just concluded primaries of the ADC, some would lose, while some would win, but that does not mean that we must tear ourselves apart. We have to work together as one big family to rescue Kaduna State from its current economic and security hardships.”

He urged other aspirants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, stressing the need for unity in the interest of the people of Kaduna State.

Ashiru also assured party loyalists and supporters of inclusiveness, saying it would strengthen internal cohesion and position the party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
