National chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, has said Africans in the diaspora are desirous of opposition coalition’s success ahead of the 2027 general election. Nwosu said many African youths in the diaspora have reached out to him and the coalition, offering support because they don’t want Africa to fail.
He spoke against the backdrop of a conference with the theme: “Imperative of Diaspora Leadership in Building the Coalition for Change and National Transformation in Nigeria and Africa,” being organised by African Democratic Congress Party of Nigeria Diaspora Network (ADC-DN).
Among personalities that will speak at the conference are former Minister of Health, Prof. Adenike Grange, and former member, European Parliament, Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana.
The conference, which will be held at 6pm, Abuja time, through zoom, will address the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Worldwide Diaspora Convergence/Stakeholders’ conference on Monday.
Grange, who is now Chair, Nigeria Diaspora Coalition for Change (NDCfC), will present a welcome address, while Dr. Herzberger-Fofana, is expected to give a goodwill message.
The guest speakers are former presidential candidate of YES Party, Alistair Soyode, who is also the chairman and founder, BEN Television UK, and Mondy Gold, President, Ijaw Diaspora Council.
Gold was also former chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), USA.
However, the ADC national chairman, Nwosu, who is guest of honour, explained that the conference is part of the consensus building for the coalition.
Nwosu said the convergence of politicians and technocrats is an indication that the coalition is enjoying the support of Nigerians from all walks of life.
The coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 is expected to take shape within the next few weeks, said Nwosu, adding, “Nigerians including most Diasporas are determined to make their contribution to ensure our country’s rejuvenation and the continent’s renaissance.
“Many African youth have reached out to me, from Namibia, South Africa, Kenya and Egypt and most of them in Diaspora urging us not to fail Africa and offering their support.
“I have linked them to the deputy national chairman, ADC Diaspora Network, Dr Ken Gbandi.
“The ADC Worldwide Diaspora Coalition Convergence is not just a talkshow but a deep reflection of wholesome desire for change with all hands on decks,” he said.
