The All Progressives Congress (APC) has activated a nationwide grassroots mobilisation drive focused on deepening public awareness and understanding of President Bola Tinubu’s reforms and policy achievements.
The directive was issued on Saturday night by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who serves as the national coordinator of the party’s Renewed Hope Ambassadors network, during the group’s fourth strategic meeting in Abuja.
Uzodimma tasked state and zonal coordinators to intensify engagement at the community level by promoting the administration’s policy initiatives and educating citizens on the rationale behind ongoing reforms.
The meeting followed an earlier session convened by the Progressive Governors’ Forum in February at the Presidential Villa, attended by President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
According to Uzodimma, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors network is structured to propagate the President’s agenda through a coordinated framework anchored on the principle of “One Party, One Message, One Mobilization Framework.”
“This outfit is designed to create national awareness, help citizens understand the reasons for the President’s reforms, educate them on their necessity, and inform them of the benefits as they trickle down,” he said.
The Imo State governor credited President Tinubu with taking bold steps to reposition Nigeria’s economy, while cautioning that misinformation could undermine public understanding of government programmes.
“If we don’t inform the people properly, this government will be misunderstood,” he stressed.
Uzodimma also called for unity within the Ambassadors network, noting that the ruling party currently enjoys the backing of 31 governors across the country.
Highlighting conditions before the current administration, he referenced unsuccessful attempts by past governments to remove fuel subsidy, a minimum wage of N30,000, and the challenge of millions of out-of-school children.
He, however, pointed to recent progress under the Tinubu administration, including the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has enabled over one million students to access training.
“As I speak to you, as I did last time, we have over a million students being trained through NELFUND, a government programme. And this couldn’t have happened without the various reform policies,” Uzodimma said.
He also cited a reduction in the price of rice, noting that it had dropped from nearly N120,000 per bag two years ago to about N50,000 currently.
“All of these need to be communicated to Nigerians and the progress the government has made in improving their lives,” he added.
In separate remarks, Governors Uba Sani and Inuwa Yahaya endorsed the mobilisation effort, expressing confidence that members of the network would effectively engage citizens on the administration’s performance since assuming office in 2023.
Governor Sani, who serves as Deputy Director General of the network, called for amplifying the administration’s successes at the subnational level, particularly in areas such as primary healthcare upgrades.
On his part, Governor Yahaya emphasised the need for coordination, noting that synergy among stakeholders would ease the task of communicating achievements, including efforts to tackle insecurity in the North-East.
