Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, predicting victory for the President in the 16 January 2027 presidential election.
Barau attributed his optimism to what he described as favourable political developments, assessments by political analysts and the foundation laid by Tinubu during his first term in office.
He spoke at the weekend during the inauguration of campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas of Kano State, where he charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy President of the Senate urged party members to close ranks and work collectively towards securing victory for all APC candidates.
“Based on the assessments of political analysts and the current state of Nigerian politics, all indications suggest that, by Allah’s grace, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the presidential election,” he said.
Barau commended party leaders, elected representatives, local government chairmen, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other stakeholders for their support and commitment to the APC.
He expressed confidence that the unity and cooperation currently enjoyed by the party would be sustained, adding that the foundation laid by Tinubu during his first term would, by the grace of Allah, yield the desired results in his second term.
The Deputy Senate President described Kano as a strategically important state, noting that its large voting population, second only to Lagos in registered voters, warranted greater attention and development opportunities from the Federal Government.
He said Governor Yusuf’s decision to move from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the APC was a strategic political development that had enhanced Kano’s political relevance and improved its prospects of attracting development opportunities.
According to him, the alignment of the governor, councillors, local government chairmen, state legislators and members of the National Assembly under the APC would strengthen political cooperation and translate into tangible benefits for the people.
Barau added that the forthcoming elections would usher in a new phase of political and developmental activities, with elected representatives expected to contribute meaningfully to the development of their respective constituencies.
He explained that the campaign committees were constituted to accommodate party leaders, members of executive committees, former and serving legislators, councillors, local government chairmen, new party members and respected elders.
He urged committee members to take their responsibilities seriously by mobilising supporters, strengthening grassroots structures and campaigning effectively for the party ahead of the elections.
“What is required of you is to play your part actively in securing victory. Mobilise, campaign and ensure that all APC candidates emerge victoriously from top to bottom. May Allah grant us success and enable us to achieve our goals,” he said.
