The Bauchi State government has directed all political appointees who intend to contest for any elective position in the forthcoming party primaries to resign their appointments on or before Friday, April 24, 2026.
The directive was contained in a press release issued by Governor’s spokesperson Mukhtar Gidado and made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, saying the order is in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended).
According to the statement, the move aligns with statutory requirements regulating the participation of public office holders in electoral processes and is aimed at ensuring full adherence to the law.
The government expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
“All such appointees are further directed to hand over all government property in their possession, as well as the responsibilities of their offices, to the appropriate person (officer) within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” the statement ordered.
