Christian leaders in Kwara State yesterday pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
They also pledged to extend the gesture to Senator Saliu Mustapha in his gubernatorial ambition.
The clerics spoke during an interdenominational prayer service organised by Christian Leaders in Politics, an umbrella body comprising ministers and leaders from various Christian denominations in the state.
The prayer session, held at the headquarters of Faith Contenders International Ministry in Ilorin, brought together prominent Christian leaders who offered prayers for Nigeria, Kwara State, President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Senator Mustapha.
Speakers at the gathering commended Senator Mustapha for his inclusive leadership style and for his longstanding support for the Christian community in Kwara Central and beyond.
They noted that the lawmaker had, over the years, demonstrated religious tolerance and fairness in his relationship with Christians.
The President of the Christian Leaders Fellowship, Pastor Abel Aiyedogbon, said Senator Mustapha had shown exceptional regard for Christians throughout his years in public service.
He explained that the prayer session was organised to seek divine guidance and success for the senator ahead of the APC governorship primaries and the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, Pastor Jacob Jonathan Elegun of Faith Contenders International Ministry said Christian leaders across the state were prepared to mobilise support for Senator Mustapha because of his record of inclusiveness and accessibility.
“Senator Saliu Mustapha has consistently shown that he is non-discriminatory in leadership and public service.
“He has given Christians their rightful recognition and support despite religious differences. We are ready to go from house to house and community to community to mobilise support for him.”
The former President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. V.S.A. Dada, led prayers for peace, unity, and stability in Kwara State and Nigeria.
He urged Christians to continue praying for the success of the administrations of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Tinubu, while also calling for divine intervention against insecurity affecting parts of the state.
Other clerics present at the event include Prophet J.K. Aiyenane, the immediate past secretary of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC); Prophet Chris Olowo of Peniel Citadel International; Pastor P.A. Olagojun; and renowned gospel musician, Evangelist Emmanuel Aiyeariwi.
