All the first class traditional rulers from Kwara south have agreed to support any candidate from Kwara north for the state’s number one political office come 2027.
The monarchs announced their decision during an engagement with their Kwara north’s counterparts at Ajase- Ipo in Irepodun local government area of the state.
LEADERSHIP reports that the front line monarchs from Kwara north and south gathered in Ajase- Ipo to deliberate on issues of insecurity and Kwara north 2027 governorship agenda.
Speaking at the event, the Olupo of Ajase- Ipo, Oba Ismail Alebiosu commended his colleagues from Kwara north for finding it necessary to seek the support of their counterparts from the southern district.
For his part, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, called for a localised security model across Kwara south and north regions.
He assured the gathering that the traditional rulers in Kwara south will support Kwara north’s call for a power shift in 2027.
“In Offa town, we believe in equity and fairness. What Kwara north people are asking for is not too much, it’s their right to be the governor of Kwara State in 2027. I have spent 15 years on the throne, I haven’t witnessed a governor from Kwara north. We, the traditional rulers in Kwara south and Kwara north have agreed to support any candidate from Kwara north.”
The Etsu Patigi, Dr Umar Bologi appreciated the hosting traditional rulers for listening and their readiness to support Kwara north gubernatorial agenda.
He said that it’s important to seek the support of the Kwara south traditional rulers at this time because it’s the turn of Kwara north to govern the state.
