Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a Northern-based support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the AA YARI Solidarity Movement (AA YASOMO), has unveiled plans to mobilise millions of votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima across the 19 Northern states.

The National Chairman of the movement, Alhaji Umar Danmaigadi Moriki, announced this shortly after the inaugural meeting of the organisation in Abuja.

Moriki described the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council as a welcome development.

He described Senator Yari as a grassroots politician and a national figure with vast political networks across the country, capable of delivering victory for the party.

According to him, the core objective of the movement is to galvanise support for the re-election of President Tinubu under the leadership of Senator Yari as DG of the Campaign Council.

“Our objective is to sensitise Nigerians on the importance of Tinubu’s re-election and the advantages of continuity in governance,” Moriki stated.

He expressed satisfaction with the policies and programmes of President Tinubu’s administration, particularly reforms in the economy, massive infrastructural investments and measures aimed at strengthening the country’s fiscal policy.

Speaking on the group’s mobilisation strategy, Moriki said the movement has established a robust structure across the North.

“During the inauguration, we reviewed and discussed strategies for expanding the group’s grassroots mobilisation for APC success at all levels ahead of the 2027 election. We have structures at Zonal, State, LGA and Ward levels.

“At the Zonal level, we have 17 executives, in each of the 19 States we have 32 executives, and also 32 executives in each of the LGAs and Ward levels,” he said.

He disclosed that the group will soon commence the inauguration of its zonal, state, local government and ward executives across the 19 Northern states.

“With these structures and arrangements, we are capable of mobilizing millions of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, in the 2027 general elections.

“Our structures are intact across Northern Nigeria; very soon we will begin grassroots engagement. We are determined to achieve our objectives through coordinated mobilisation and sustained engagement across Northern Nigeria,” Moriki added.
