Women from Isoko communities have formally endorsed the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial hopeful for Delta South, Dr. Austin Orette, declaring their readiness to mobilise for his victory in the 2027 general elections.

At a meeting held in Oleh on Sunday, the women said the forthcoming election presents another opportunity for the district to chart a new course and enthrone purposeful representation.

“We have a huge task ahead. The 2027 election in Delta South Senatorial District is another occasion to prove to ourselves that we can get it right. We must begin early preparations for the NDCs electoral success,” they stated.

The group also took a swipe at proponents of a power shift in the district, rejecting the idea in strong terms.

Rising from the meeting, the women described Orette as a leader of integrity, highlighting his moral standing, honesty, and capacity to reposition the district for sustainable development.

“Dr. Austin Orette is an exceptional leader and a defender of the ideals of justice, democracy, and integrity. He will create and sustain opportunities for individual and collective advancement,” they said.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Chairperson of the Isoko Women United Group (IWUG), Mrs. Elizabeth Oghenemaro, disclosed that consultations were ongoing with key political stakeholders across various communities in the district to ensure Orette emerges as the next senator for Delta South.

According to her, “Dr. Austin Orette has strong political credibility and an extensive global network. He will promote trade, drive infrastructural development, and strengthen security across the district.”

The women further underscored his competence, commitment to public welfare, and courage in addressing issues affecting the people.

“The renowned physician is hardworking, honest, refined, and accommodating. He is best suited to represent Delta South at this critical time,” the group added.

They also commended Orette for consistently promoting the interests of the oil-rich district, while cautioning against misinformation and political manipulation.

“What we are witnessing in the district is a desperate attempt by certain individuals and groups to mislead the people with false narratives for selfish political gains,” they said.

The group urged leaders across the Itsekiri, Ijaw, Isoko, and Urhobo ethnic nationalities to resist supporting what they described as ineffective representation.

“Four years of wasted opportunities are enough. The era of underperformance must come to an end. The people will speak decisively in 2027,” the women declared.
