The Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmad Aliyu ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing both leaders as central to the party’s continued strength and governance delivery.
Wamakko made the declaration during the formal affirmation of Governor Ahmad Aliyu as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 elections, held at the party’s state secretariat in Sokoto.
The event attracted party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters who gathered to demonstrate unity and consolidate internal cohesion within the APC ahead of the next election cycle.
Speaking at the gathering, Wamakko praised Governor Aliyu’s leadership style, describing it as people-oriented and focused on delivering democratic dividends across Sokoto State.
He commended the governor’s loyalty to the APC and said it had helped strengthen trust among party members and supporters across the state.
According to him, the administration has continued to sustain development projects across key sectors, including infrastructure and basic services, with noticeable impact at the grassroots level.
Wamakko said Governor Aliyu’s governance approach reflects inclusiveness and a commitment to balanced development across communities in Sokoto State.
He also applauded APC stakeholders for what he described as discipline and unity, noting that the consensus that produced the governor’s candidacy demonstrated political maturity within the party.
The former governor added that internal cohesion remains critical to sustaining stability and ensuring continued progress in governance delivery.
Reflecting on post-2023 political realignments, Wamakko said defections from the APC ultimately strengthened the party rather than weakening it.
He said the realignments helped the party to reorganize, rebuild trust among supporters, and reinforce its grassroots structure ahead of future elections.
According to him, what initially appeared as a setback had become a source of renewed strength for the APC.
Wamakko expressed confidence that the party is well positioned to secure victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections, provided members remain united and committed to its ideals.
He urged party members to continue supporting the administration’s development agenda and to work closely with government structures to sustain progress across Sokoto State.
The event ended with renewed optimism, as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC’s political base and advancing governance delivery in the state.
