A Turkish Airlines aircraft carrying 267 passengers sustained damage after colliding with a radar-related structure at Antalya Airport in Turkey, prompting an emergency evacuation.

The Boeing 777-3Q8 reportedly struck a metal antenna-like structure on the airfield, tearing part of its wing and damaging the side of the aircraft.

Videos circulating online showed extensive damage to the plane, with sections of the wing ripped apart and the red-and-white metal structure lying collapsed on the ground after the impact.

Inside the cabin, oxygen masks were deployed and some overhead compartments opened during the incident, causing panic among passengers.

A female passenger who recorded the aftermath inside the aircraft described the frightening experience.

“After landing, something broke off in the plane,” she said.

Describing the reaction of another passenger, she added: “The woman is hysterical. Even the skin of the plane was torn off… this metal thing, we ran over it.”

Other passengers reportedly described the sound of the impact as “frightening”.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, were immediately deployed to the scene, while all 267 passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft using mobile stairs.

Authorities said no fatalities were reported in the incident.

Airport operations were temporarily affected as emergency teams secured the area and assessed the damage. Some passengers also reported waiting about two hours to collect their luggage following the evacuation.

Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft’s wing clipped the metal structure, causing it to collapse onto part of the plane.

Turkish Airlines has launched a technical investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The airline and airport authorities are expected to provide further details after the investigation is concluded.
