3 Die In Delta Accident

An accident has claimed the lives of three female passengers who were hawkers and injured three others at Warri/Effurun Express Way by Army Barracks, Effurun in Uvwie local government area, Delta State.
The accident happened on Wednesday when a commercial transport (kpelegbe) bus was pushed to hit a trailer along the ever-busy road.

Two of the injured passengers were reported to be responding positively to treatment, while the condition of one of them was critical at the Central Hospital, Warri.

The driver of the commercial bus, Elisha, was said to have sustained serious wounds and was receiving treatment at the hospital in Warri at the time of filing this report.

The fatal accident, according to an eye witness, was allegedly caused by a private japanese made car driver on high speed who ran over two speed breakers and hit the Warri bound commercial bus which rammed into a heavy duty trailer from behind, killing the three passengers in the bus on the spot and injured the other three in the process.

The private car was said to be damaged beyond repair, but its driver survived the accident unhurt and was arrested by the police.

It was also gathered that the remains of the dead passengers were deposited at the mortuary of Warri Central Hospital.

The police public relations officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
