The incident occurred as the vehicle reached Komala Village, Konduga, in Konduga local government area of Borno State.

LEADERSHIP recalls that in a similar incident last Friday at the same Konduga, a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber detonated an IED at a joint in a crowded fish market and killed 12 persons with 18 others sustaining injuries.

Security sources and eyewitnesses confirmed that the attacker infiltrated the market disguised as a civilian before detonating the explosive.

A statement issued to Journalists on Wednesday in Maiduguri by the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the corpses of the deceased and the injured victims have been evacuated to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, for autopsy and medical treatment.

“As a result of the explosion, four (4) persons lost their lives, while ten (10) others sustained various degrees of injuries.

“The corpses of the deceased and the injured victims have been evacuated to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, for autopsy and medical treatment respectively,” he said.

The PPRO added that normalcy has been restored with the deployment of joint security team to the scene to prevent further attacks, “while efforts are ongoing by Police EOD-CBRN to probe the scene”.
