About 500 coordinators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in seven local government areas of Cross River South Senatorial District have defected to opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying they found the PDP more reliable.

Leader of the defectors, a senior special assistant to a former governor on youth mobilisation, Mr. Abel Bassey, said they  left the APC after weighing both parties and realising  that  the PDP is more humane than the APC.

“This is my support group, Osopel Support Group; we have taken a bold step this evening to defect officially from the ruling APC to the PDP.  Like the prodigal son who went astray only to discover that his sojourn was an effort in futility, we have returned to our great  party.

“We have just been received a few minutes ago by the PDP, the state party chairman and  entire leadership of the PDP in Cross River State,” he said.
