5,349 New Teachers Undergo Capacity Training

Newly recruited 5,349 teachers in Abia State have undergone a 12-day capacity training in Aba, ahead of the September 22 resumption date of schools for the 2025/26 academic session.

‎At the end of the training, the commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Goodluck Ubochi charged them to be committed to the transformational initiatives of the government in education .

‎His words: “The training was designed to properly equip you with the modern techniques, skills, ethical standards and the right mindset for effective service delivery.”

According to the commissioner, the training was organised by the government in conjunction with the Education Reform and Innovation Team (ERIT).

Ubochi, who noted that it marked a remarkable step in their growth in the teaching profession, urged them to replicate all they were taught in their classes.

Speaking, ERIT Aba Zone lead, Victor Oko urged them to see themselves as promoters of students-centered learning strategies and classroom managers and wished them well.

Also, the state wing chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Friday Madu, said the training had placed them on a strong foundation, stressing that they must deliver as expected.

‎Responding on behalf of other participants, Ogechukwu Okonkwo, expressed appreciation for the training and assured that they will not betray the confidence reposed in them.
