Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, yesterday took a retrospective look on the milestones attained by his administration in the last seven years and scored himself 85 percent.

“If we were to score ourselves, I would give us 85 percent, and by the time we are done next year, that score would have inched considerably”, he enthused.

Addressing residents in a state-wide broadcast on his seven year anniversary as the fourth civilian governor of the 34-year-old state, Emmanuel noted that key sectors of the state’s economy have been re-tooled under his watch towards engendering growth and development of the state and its people.

“Seven years ago, I stood before you and made a solemn pledge to serve you diligently, transparently, faithfully and with God as the bedrock,” he recalled.

According to him, the social contract encapsulated in his five-points agenda has manifested in industrialisation, job creation, social inclusion/human capital development, health, education and security in the past seven years.

“It was a contract to move the levers of development and growth of our people through industrialisation and infrastructural renaissance; it was a contract aimed at engendering a new order to ignite entrepreneurial spirit in our people and show in practical terms that all we need to succeed and thrive are embedded in us”, the governor stressed.

He, therefore, urged the people to continue to support his administration’s quest to leave a lasting legacy of one united and prosperous state for posterity.

Besides, as his administration inches towards its 2023 terminal point, Emmanuel enjoined the people to be in the vanguard of ensuring what he described as a seamless implementation of his “completion and succession agenda” for sustainable development of the state.
