President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Chief Tonobok Okowa, officially confirmed the squad on Tuesday during a kit-unveiling ceremony held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Okowa clarified that the Nigerian team consists of 92 athletes, correcting an earlier figure of 96, and expressed his confidence in the readiness of the team for the continental event.

“The athletes have been well trained and are fully prepared to represent the country. I am pleased with the Puma kits; they are of excellent quality, and I believe this team will make Nigeria proud,” he stated.

One of the athletes, Chioma Nwachukwu, who will compete in the 400m event, spoke on behalf of the team, describing the unveiling as a significant boost to their morale.
