99 Stranded Nigerians Return From Niger Republic

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), on Monday, said it received another batch of 99 stranded Nigerians from Niger Republic.

In a press statement by the Lagos Territorial Office coordinator of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, the returnees were assisted back to the country in a voluntary capacity by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

According to him, the flight that brought the stranded Nigerians landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, at about 14:15 hours.

“Another batch of 99 stranded Nigerians have been repatriated back to the country from Niger Republic. The returnees who were assisted back to the country in a voluntary capacity by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) landed at about 1415 hours.

“The chartered flight Sky Mali with registration number TZ-SMA
Boeing 737-500 had 15 adult females including 2 with medical cases and 76 adult males, 7 female children, 15 male children, 1 female and infants respectively aboard the aircraft,” he said.

He added that the returnees were received by the officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Refugee Commission, among others.

“Agencies that carried out reception at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport upon arrival are Refugee Commission, NAPTIP, FAAN and Nigeria Immigration Service,” he stated.
