Nigerian singer Abolore Akande, better known as ‘9ice’, has shared fresh views on his personal beliefs and spirituality.

In a video posted on Instagram on June 22, the “Gongo Aso” singer spoke about his deep respect for his parents. He said they hold the highest place in his life and described them as his greatest source of honour and reverence.

According to 9ice, he does not direct his devotion to any other spiritual figure. He said his parents represent the highest authority and most sacred influence in his life.

“I love my mum, I love my father, I love my dad. My God is my mum, my father is my God,” he said.

The singer also said his personal beliefs differ from traditional religious practices.IMG 2538

“I don’t believe in inferior Gods,” he added, a comment that has continued to fuel discussions across social media platforms.

Although 9ice stressed his love and respect for his parents, his remarks have been interpreted in different ways by many people.

The video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media. Users have shared differing views on his comments.

This is not the first time the singer has spoken about his spiritual beliefs. 9ice previously disclosed that he has practised as a Babalawo for about 18 years, a revelation that surprised many fans at the time.

The singer’s remarks sparked mixed reactions online. Some users backed his right to share his views. Others disagreed and challenged his comments. The discussion soon grew into a wider debate about religion, faith and personal freedom. Some of the reactions are shown below.

@fentyoflagos stated:

“It’s the reflection of how you treat them, the same regard will you subject to the God that cannot be seen”
