Following the devastating flood that washed away thousands of hectares of farms barely a month to the harvest in Bauchi State last year, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has kicked off sales of fertiliser for the 2023 farming season in the state.

Speaking in Azare, the governor said the early launching of the ferming season is to heed to Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) rainfall prediction.

He assured farmers in the state that adequate fertiliser would be made available to them throughout the year, thus easing access to the essential farming commodity.

Governor Bala pegged the price of a bag of fertiliser NPK 20-10-10 at N15,000 as against N18,000 market price.

According to him, so far, government through the Fertiliser Blending Company blended 200 trucks of fertiliser which will continue till next year.

LEADERSHIP reports that Bauchi State Government committed N12billion for the purchase of raw materials for the production of fertiliser to meet the demand of farmers.

Bala Mohammed warned against hoarding of the fertiliser and sale above government control price.
