Fresh Voter Registration Hits 10.4m

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said fresh registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) has hit 10,487,972, as at 7:00 am, Monday 27th June, 2022.

The commission disclosed this in a CVR Update on quarter four, week 11, released in Abuja yesterday night.

The commission also disclosed that 8,631,696 registrants had completed their registrations with 3,250,449 via online and 5,381,247 through physical registration.

 

According to the commission, the gender breakdown of the registrants that have completed their registration comprised 4,292,690 male and 4,339,006 female.

LEADERSHIP reports that the released statistics also indicated that 6,081,456 of the figures are youths, while 67,171 are Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

 

The update also revealed that as at the 7:00 am of Monday, INEC had received 23,560,043 applications for voter transfer, requests for replacement of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), update of voter information record, etc.

 

It added that 12,317,963 of the applications were received from male and 11,242,080 from female, of which 6,146,335 of the applications were from students and 187,904 from PWDs.
