Mr. Daniel Ogah Ogazi says he remains the authentic speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, having gone through the processes stipulated by law to emerge in that position.

Speaking to journalists on the recent endorsement of Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi by Governor Abdullahi Sule on Arise Television recently as speaker of the House, Ogazi said the governor’s position cannot accord legitimacy to what he termed  “Kangaroo and illegal” inauguration of Balarabe and his team.

He said it was wrong for the governor who swore an oath to uphold the law and  constitution as well as to protect the rights of every resident and citizen to jettison same at such a critical time of legislative transition.

“Whosoever told the governor to run that interview has not helped him. The governor is the chief security officer of the state and what should be at the back of his mind always is to be fair to all and to also protect them. But for him to witness illegality been perpetrated and back same is unfortunate and sad,” he said.

He said the governor’s role is that of a mediator being a father to all and not to further create discord and tension by his utterances.

“We still respect him as the governor of our state. Whether anybody likes it or not and we will accord him every respect that that office deserved. I think he should accord us that respect also and like I said ,if he cannot bring us together and resolve this, he should not take side and cause more harm to our state.  If he loves this state then he should desist from the way and manner he is handling this matter,” he added.

Ogazi also accused the commissioner of police, Maiyaki Baba, of taking sides in the crisis, even as he urged the inspector general of police to call the commissioner to order in the interest of peace and unity of the state.
