We Will No Longer Respect ‘Frivolous’ Ex parte Orders – NLC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC ) yesterday expressed concern on  frequent use of ex parte orders against it by some judges who it said had bent to accommodate the whims and caprices of the executive branch of government.

The organised labour described such orders as black market injunctions which it would no longer respect.

Recall that the federal government was on Tuesday granted an ex parte order from the National Industrial Court (NIC) restraining the congress from proceeding with the proposed nationwide strike slated for Wednesday. Labour  though accepted it but described it as a weapon against the interests of Nigerian workers.

In a statement by the NLC national president, Comrade Joe Ajaero in Abuja, it said it had taken steps to vacate the extant injunction in question in consultation with its lawyers.

Ajaero said  black market injunctions constitute inherent and present danger to the  image of the judiciary and it would no hesitate to picket any court that issues such injunction in the future.
