The book launch, which was held in Lagos, had in attendance, tax practitioners and key players in the Nigerian tax industry.

Speaking at the book launch, Nnamani explained that, the book provides an updated resource material that explains the Nigerian tax laws in clear terms, incorporating the recent amendments of the various tax laws by the Finance Acts 2019, 2020, and 2021.

According to the author, the book was structured to address the challenges faced by students in studying taxation due to the difficulty in engaging with tax laws.

“I understood the fact that the challenges students have with studying taxation is the inability to engage while reading the tax laws, so I structured the book in a way that it will convey any message about taxation in clear terms.

“The book has 24 chapters and I have highlighted the learning outcome in each of the chapters, including a brainstorming section at the end of each chapter to engage the reader, be it a student, lecturer, tax administrator or professional,” she said.

Nnamani revealed that her passion for taxation and service to humanity was the inspiration behind her book.

“I wanted to give what I have to my society. I am passionate about taxation and it’s something I love doing. I love teaching people and I actually wanted to teach on my area of interest at my work place but I did not get the opportunity so I decided to put down what I know and the experiences I have gathered in a book,”she noted.

The book reviewer, Albert Afolorunsho, who was also present at the book launch shared his thoughts on the book noting that “the book was really inspiring and covered a lot of areas that people often struggle with on taxation”.

Folorunsho highlighted the book’s potential to mitigate the learning gap with respect to Nigerian taxation and also contribute to the growth of the taxation industry.

According to the reviewer, “the level of understanding of taxation is not as what people expect and so by just going through the law alone will not give you enough understanding.

“If you go through the book, it came with a lot of illustration and explanation on technical areas. I believe that it would go a long way in enlightening the public.”

Folorunsho commended the author’s effort in simplifying taxation in her new book, while encouraging tax professionals to explore the many areas of taxation and make valuable contributions to the field.

He recommended the book as a resource resource for tax payers, students, and anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of taxation
