Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in Kogi State has matriculated 4, 347 new students for the 2022/2023 academic session.
At the event in Lokoja, the vice chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, warned the students to desist from cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice and other social vices.
“Today marks the beginning of a transformative chapter in your lives, and I assure you that this university community is here to support and guide your steps to fulfill your divine destiny.
“The record before me shows that we are today matriculating 4,347 students for the 2022/2023 academic session across six faculties, including the College of Health Sciences.
“This matriculation oath means you have embraced the university’s values and ethos, which signifies your commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and the pursuit of knowledge
“At Federal University, Lokoja, our mission is to provide quality education, foster critical thinking, and produce thorough bread graduates who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the society,” he said
Akinwumi explained that the vision of the institution is to become one of the leading universities in the country, adding that the institution would continue to thrive for excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
”These guiding principles serve as the compass that is driving this institution toward academic innovation, social responsibility, and transformative impact which requires the students to take their lectures seriously.
”So, we advise you against all social vices, abide by the rules and regulations of the university.
”Respect the code of conduct, honour academic integrity, and treat fellow students, faculty, and staff members with dignity and kindness,”Akunwumi said.
