Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a directive that no political appointee or member of the Palliative Compliance Committees is entitled to the palliatives being distributed in the state.

The governor issued the warning while flagging off the second phase of palliatives distribution in the state yesterday in Kano.

He said the palliatives were meant for the poor and vulnerable in the state, adding that apart from those benefitting at the ward levels, special groups had also been selected.

These groups, he said, include widows, orphans, Almajiri Schools and  widows and orphans of Army, Air Force, Navy, Police, NSCDC, Peace Corps, vigilantes as well as the correctional centre officers.

Although the government did not mention how much had been spent on the palliatives, the governor announced that 52,000 bags of 10kg rice and 52,000 bags of 10kg maize were to be distributed across the 484 wards in the state.

More so, each of the wards in the 44 local government areas of the state will get 400 bags of the food items accordingly.
