Kelsey Hatcher, a 32-year-old woman from Alabama born with two uteruses, recently welcomed the birth of twin girls on different days, as she joyously shared on her Instagram account, “doubleuhatchlings,” last Friday.

“Our miracle babies were born!” Hatcher expressed in her post, adding humorously that the girls “decided they were rare enough statistically that they should just go ahead and have their own birthdays too.”

Roxi Layla, the first of the twins, arrived on Tuesday at 7:49 pm (0149 GMT), followed by Rebel Laken on Wednesday at 6:09 am.

Initially, doctors had estimated a Christmas due date, but the sisters made an early appearance, ensuring they could be home for the holidays with their siblings.

Both the mother and her daughters have been discharged from the hospital, with Hatcher promising to share details about the unique delivery in the future.

Hatcher had been aware of her rare condition, “uterus didelphys,” since the age of 17, a congenital anomaly that affects roughly 0.3 percent of people born female.

During a routine ultrasound visit in May, the massage therapist and mother-of-three discovered that she was expecting twins, each in a separate uterus – an exceedingly rare occurrence. Shweta Patel, the obstetrician-gynaecologist overseeing Hatcher’s case at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Women & Infants Center, highlighted the rarity of such pregnancies, the AFP reported.

Hatcher mentioned being informed of the odds being 1 in 50 million, with the last well-known case reported in Bangladesh in 2019 when Arifa Sultana, then 20, gave birth to healthy twins 26 days apart.
