Sporting Lagos FC are walking a tightrope to survive in the Nigerian Premier League as the club secured a 2-2 draw in Monday’s evening match with Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

In what turned out to be a hard-fought match between the two clubs, the host, known as the Noisy Lagos, fought to make the duel a win.

Chinedu Chukwu Ufere of Noisy Lagos was the first to score at the 41st minute with a sublime shot rattling the Shooting Stars goalkeeper.

Kareem Ademola equalised for the visitors before the end of the first half, making the match more interesting.

Before the goal, the host received a yellow card via Ekene Olisama.

Sporting Lagos increased momentum, desiring to get a win in this match, having lost the last match to Enyimba of Aba.

In the second half, I. Annor came in for C. Naantaum and added to the attack of the host. However, the Oluyole Warriors, who are sitting in the 10th position on the table, fought for another equaliser and got it via a goal by Gift Monday at the 50th minute.

After that, it was topsy-turvy for both clubs as the Noisy Lagos huffed and puffed to get another goal, bringing in Nwokeji and Udoh, removing Egeonu and Junior Lokosa, respectively.

The match ended with Sporting Lagos player, Akpikoi, receiving a red card in extra time. The match ended 2-2, and Shooting Stars would be elated with this draw even as they face Enyimba in their next match.

The technical crew of Sporting Lagos led by Coach Paul Offor would be under pressure as he looks to see how to motivate and tinker with his team, perhaps buying another striker and adding depth to the midfield as the club battles to win the much-needed away games as the league enters its second phase of the NPFL.

The club was in 18th position before today’s draw, while Oluyole Warriors are in mid-table. Sporting Lagos faces Bendel Insurance in its next match.
