The state commissioner for information, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun said Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration remins committed to the wellbeing of the people while rapidly developing the state.
Olatunbosun who spoke after the weekly state executive council meeting in Ado Ekiti, explained that construction work on the first phase of Ekiti Ring Road had been restructured to avert the demolition of houses in affected communities including Iworoko, Are and Afao Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government areas of the state.

The commissioner said going by international best practices a ring road is a road or a series of connected roads encircling a town, city or country, saying the government would not compromise on standards
Olatunbosun said the most common purpose of a ring road is to assist in reducing traffic volumes in the urban center, such as by offering an alternate route around the city for drivers who do not need to stop in the city core.
“The focus is to develop the state and improve the lot of the people using efficient techniques, methods, processes or technology to contain the waste and keep people and the environment safe.”

He solicited the continued support and understanding of all stakeholders, stressing the need for residents of the state to take ownership of projects in their respective domains with the culture of collective responsibility to protect their interests

In his remarks, the state commissioner for works, Mr. Sola Adebayo assured the residents of Iworoko, Are, Afao and other communities along the proposed Ring Road that the restructuring is in their best interest and would not reduce any value accruable to their respective communities.
