Kogi Begins Payment Of Bursary Awards

Kogi State government has begun the process for the payment of bursary to all students that are indigenes of the state in tertiary institutions across the country.

The commissioner for education, Hon. Wemi Jones, disclosed this at a press conference yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital.

Jones said the process involved students’ registration across the country for Kogi State Students Bursary Award 2024.

The commissioner described Governor Usman Ododo as one that keeps his words with actions in ensuring that education is made a sustainable tool for development.

He said over 5,700 students had within two days, applied to be beneficiaries and urged them to take advantage of the gesture in funding their education.

The commissioner encouraged every student of the state in tertiary schools nationwide to log into the portal to enable them benefit from the scholarship and assured them that the process would be seamless and transparent.

Jones explained that the state government was committed to planning and adequately funding education in the State, using the state strategic plan with adequate budgetary provision.

Earlier, the executive chairman, Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Raji Afolabi, promised a transparent process, saying the registration would close by the end of April.

 

He said the board would, after the registration, develop a budget for the categories of persons that would benefit from the scholarship.
