Twelve political parties are set to participate in the local government elections slated for July 13 in Adamawa State.

The chairman, Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) Alhaji Mohammed Umar, made this known at the end of two-day screening for candidates willing to contest various positions.

Umar said the screening aimed to ensure that all aspiring candidates meet the requisite criteria and standards, thereby upholding the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

He assured that the forthcoming local polls would be conducted free and fair in the state.

According to him,  12 out of the state’s 19 registered political parties will participate in the upcoming election.
